The first IKEA store in Belgrade began work on the 27th of March in 1991. It was located in New Belgrade in the Jugopetrol building and back then it was only the  second IKEA store in Eastern Europe (the first was in Hungary). It was closed in 1992 because of international sanctioning in Yugoslavia.
