The Astronomy association "Rudjer Boskovic" is one of the oldest organizations of this type in Europe and the oldest one in the Balkans. It was founded in 1934. Within the Astronomy association "Rudjer Boskovic", the National observatory was also constructed in 1964 and it is still housed today within the Despot tower at Kalemegdan.
