Delijska fountain in Belgrade is one of the oldest fountains mentioned in the 17th century. The name "delijska" came from the Turkish word for light cavalry for whom the fountain was built originally. The first fountain was constructed in 1843 and torn down in 1889, when another Delijska fountain was constructed instead of it. This one was torn down in 1913 when the building of Serbian Academy of Science was constructed. The third fountain of this name was built in Knez Mihailova during the reconstruction in 1987 using designes by Aleksandar Derok and is a replica of the old Delijska fountain.
