In the first year of the 19th century, where today we have the Nikola Pasic square, there used to be a deserted meadow across which led the Constantinople road. That part of the road slowly turned into a street, which was first called the "street at Zlatni top" (Zlatni top was a tavern nearby) and then Marko's street.
