Bezanija, the village beneath Bezanijska Kosa on the left bank of Sava, has existed under its current name since 1512 when the Turkish records noted that 32 Serbian families live there.
It's probable that most of those families originated from medieval Serbia, having crossed Sava fleeing from Turks, and ended up settling there. That's probably how the village got its name Bezanija.
