Not long ago, nearly 40 years ago, halfway from Belgrade to Kumodraž, right by the last tram station, Živan Trifunović, a man from Šabac, opened his restaurant and named it Šabački slatinac!
Since those early days until today, the restaurant has become well-known for its good, traditional cuisine.
Anyone who came then had to notice Živan's huge kitchen, where he grilled Ćevapi and steaks, smoked sausages, and chopped liver and peppers.
From the beginning, the tavern emphasized food, becoming renowned for its good food.
Fans of a drop, a homely and almost familiar atmosphere, spread the word about the tasty and overly generous portions prepared by Master Žika, as everyone else knows him. Today, what was once a small and hastily opened tavern has a reputation that spreads like a torrent throughout Belgrade, Serbia, and even worldwide through the internet. What was started then still lives on.
Today, Šabački slatinac is run by his sons who strive to follow the paths of success paved by Živan Trifunović back in 1981.
