We are a non-governmental, non-profit organization working since 2003 to promote quality care for children and quality education for children aged 0-18 and their parents, as well as to support youth in finding their place in Serbia. Our three main program lines focus on Child Support: Quality Education for All (inclusive education for all children, improving the education of ethnic minorities from preschool to adult education), Youth Mobilization (local community needs, social partnerships at the local level, empowering local NGOs), and Protection against Trafficking of Children and Youth.
We began in 2003 with the assistance of the Christian Children's Fund. In September 2003, Child Support organized a pilot study in western Serbia to discover the reasons for early school dropout among Roma children. Other projects followed, and in the second quarter of 2004, with the help of other international donors, Child Support established its Board of Directors and began the local registration process. In April 2004, the Association of Citizens Child Support, a non-profit organization in Serbia and Montenegro, was officially registered.
Child Support closely collaborates with the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of Serbia and is connected within the Working Group of the National Team to Combat Trafficking in Children, linked with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Issues, the Ministry of Health, the National Service for the Protection of Trafficking Victims, UNICEF, OSCE, IOM, Astrom, Victimology Society, and other local NGOs dealing with these issues.
Child Support is also a member of the international organization Christian Children's Fund, a dynamic global children's group operating in 38 countries, assisting more than 7.6 million children and families regardless of race, religion, and gender.
Child Support is dedicated to making a visible, significant difference in the lives of children, youth, parents, and all those involved with them while maintaining the trust of donors. Prudent financial management and strict financial control enable us to reach more children and families and be accountable to donor funds.
OUR VISION
All children are strong, capable, and visible in their local communities. All children are physically and mentally healthy, eager to learn, and respect those who are different.
OUR MISSION
Many children suffer the consequences of poverty and violence. The Association of Citizens Child Support creates an environment where there is hope and respect for children, where children have the opportunity to reach their maximum potential, and where children, parents, and all those involved with them have access to practical assistance and resources for positive change.
