Between the year 1913 and 1940 the Terazije square was called "Prestolonaslednikov" (throne heir's) square. The name Terazije was given to the square was founded around 1840, until 1913 when it was changed to Prestolonaslednikov square. The old name was restored in 1940 and remains until today.
