The first soccer match in Belgrade took place in 1896 in Lowtown near the Nebojsa tower.
A Jewish man by the name of Hugo Buli upon his return from studying in Vienna brought the first soccer ball to Belgrade. He gifted the ball to his friends from the Belgrade gymnastics society "Soko" and founded a soccer section in 1896, wanting to make the youth interested in the new game.
