The national Hydrometeorology Institute is located in Kosutnjak.

The Ministry of education and church affairs of the Kingdom of Serbia on 15th September (27th according to the new calendar) in 1888 decided to start a network of meteorology stations in Serbia. On that date the official National meteorology service of Serbia was founded.
