The largest Orthodox construction in the Balkans - and one of the largest orthodox churches in the world - the St. Sava Temple is located in Belgrade. With a 70m tall central dome and a gilded cross of 12m, this temple totals a height of about 82m and an altitude of 134m (64m above the water level of Sava river). Seven meters beneath the level of St. Sava Temple, a marble staircase leads to a crypt where a Byzantian style church is being completed, dedicated to the grand holy marter Prince Lazar and with just as imposing crypt spanning over 1800m2 that will be a burial place for Serbian Patriarchs in the future.
