In Takovska street there used to be a swimming pool that the Germans built during their occupation of Belgrade. Its original use was for fire prevention, but in 1946 it was converted into a swimming pool where the best swimmers from the Yugoslav and Soviet armies competed, including the hero Leonid Meshkov who won the SSSR championship 42 times and who - according to stories - was wounded when he swam across the Volga river.
